Game of the Month: Root

Welcome to the Book & Board Library Lounge! We have a collection of board games you can play while enjoying refreshments in Downtown Library's new cafe space. This month's featured game is Root.

Root is a war strategy game where players control a faction of woodland critters fighting for dominance of a medieval forest. Every faction plays differently, each using the cards and resources in their own unique ways, and the board consists of two sides with different play styles. In addition to the base game, Chandler Public Library also has the Riverfolk Expansion, which adds two additional factions plus an automated faction that allows for cooperative play or a single-player experience. Gain control of the forest through industry or daring quests. Set up trade posts or plant sacred gardens. The possibilities are endless.

Root is an asymmetrical war strategy game for 2 to 4 players, or up to 6 players with the Riverfolk Expansion. For ages 10 and up. The average play time is 60 to 90 minutes.
