Chandler Writer-in-Residence

Are you an aspiring author looking for support as you work on your craft? Chandler Public Library is excited to partner with the Arizona State Library for the Writer-in-Residence program, a series of workshops and one-on-one consultations for writers.

We’ll welcome Amy Fellner Dominy as our Writer-in-Residence from October through December 2024. Amy is an accomplished author, playwright, and educator, with accolades that include the Arizona Grand Canyon Reader’s Award, the Abilene School District Reader’s Choice Award, and the ALA Sydney Taylor Notable Award. 

Workshops will include:

Writing a Novel in One Sentence
Chandler Downtown Library
Wednesday, Oct. 16 at 5:30 p.m.
If you can write this one sentence, you can write a whole book! Learn how to create a Story Statement that will help you nail down the most important elements of your story.

Real Tricks to Create Fake People
Basha Library
Saturday, Nov. 2 at 10 a.m.
Characters are the heart of every story. Learn how to keep readers engrossed in your story by developing characters that read like real people.

Amy will also offer 30-minute writing consultations to help aspiring authors fine-tune their work. All experience levels are welcome. Limit one session per week. Registration is required.
