Chandler Writer-in-Residence

Are you an aspiring author looking for support as you work on your craft? Chandler Public Library is excited to partner with the Arizona State Library for the Writer-in-Residence program, a series of workshops and one-on-one consultations for writers.

We’ll welcome Robrt Pela as our Writer-in-Residence from July through September 2024. Robrt is a Pulliam Prize-winning journalist with a 30-year tenure as a columnist for the Phoenix city weekly, New Times. He has been a staff writer for The Advocate, Psychology Today, and Men’s Fitness, and is a longtime regular contributor to National Public Radio affiliate KJZZ. Currently, he writes for Phoenix Magazine.

The State of Publishing in America

Monday, July 22 at 6 p.m.
This interactive workshop will introduce the roles of agents and editors, and help attendees navigate the diverse landscape of modern publishing.

How to Create a Writing Practice
Chandler Downtown Library
Monday, July 29 at 6 p.m.
This presentation will explore various techniques for organizing ideas and effectively putting them on paper.

Robrt will also offer 30-minute writing consultations to help aspiring authors fine-tune their work. All experience levels are welcome. Limit one session per week. Registration is required.
