When most of us think about the holiday season, we think about togetherness. This holiday season, Chandler Public Library will be working with Chandler Neighborhood Resources to show our community members experiencing homelessness that we’re thinking about them. These bags contain much-needed hygiene and winter items.
Between Nov. 18 and Dec. 16, visit any Chandler Library location to take a tag from one of our Chandler Library Community Cares Trees. The items listed on the tags will help our neighbors in need get through the winter season. Requested items include:
- Gift cards ($5 or $10) to Circle K or Jack in the Box
- New, clean socks and underwear
- Hand warmers
- Unscented Baby Wipes
- Toiletry items (toothbrush and toothpaste, deodorant, tampons, pads, razors, lip balm, small lotion)
- New coats, gloves, hats, and scarves
- New sleeping bags
- First aid kits
- Reusable water bottles
- Pre-packaged individual snacks
Please bring in new, unwrapped donations to the Information Desk at any library location by Dec. 16. Items will be collected by the libraries, then sorted into gift bags. A librarian and a navigator from Neighborhood Resources will distribute the bags to people in need.
Last year we were able to give out over 140 bags to those out in the cold, see the happiness on community members’ faces, and showed part of our community that we do see them and we’re here to help. We all shine when we make someone else's holiday a little bit brighter!
