Need relief from the heat? The City of Chandler, in association with the Heat Relief Network, has opened multiple locations that offer residents and those experiencing homelessness a safe place to recover and cool down from the extreme heat. The four Chandler Library locations are among these Cooling Centers, which have air-conditioned spaces and water available for those in need. Come to any library location during open hours to ask for water and see what seating is available. If you’re at Downtown or Sunset libraries, hang on to those water bottles – we have bottle refilling stations!
Four other sites in Chandler act as Cooling Centers, and AZCEND offers a Respite Center for cooling, hydration, and uninterrupted rest, Sunday through Friday 9 a.m. to 7 p.m., with Saturday service on extreme heat days and overnight service starting June 15. See the City of Chandler Heat Relief page for details. Visit the Heat Relief Network to find additional sites across Maricopa County.
The City of Chandler also accepts donations of water, sunscreen, personal hygiene items, battery-powered fans, hats, Chapstick, and monetary donations through ChangeUp. If you would like to donate, you can bring items to AZCEND or to the library. Thank you for helping our neighbors in need!
