Let’s get ready to read this summer, all together now! This year’s Summer Reading Challenge starts June 1, and pre-registration is open now! Check out our SRC page for all the details! Do you have a teen who’s looking for summer volunteer hours? Orientation and signup sessions are also open now - see the events calendar for dates and locations.
Pre-readers, kids, teens, and adults can sign up and earn points for books they read between June 1 and August 1. Points can be redeemed for prizes at 500, 750, and 1000 points, and everyone who completes 1000 points will also receive a free book (list of available books will be available in your in-game email) and an entry into a grand prize drawing. Sign up now for your online account and get ready to read and log your points on June 1!
This year’s theme is All Together Now, with a focus on friendship, community, and unity. Looking for something to read? Check out these booklists for adults, teens, kids, and ages 0-5 with suggested books to fit the theme. But don’t worry - you can read anything you want for Summer Reading! Audiobooks count too, and if you’re reading to a young one, that time counts for both of you!
Summer Reading is also a great time for teens to get volunteer hours in. Teen volunteers will help people of all ages sign up for the Summer Reading Challenge, redeem their prizes, and learn how to answer questions about the challenge. All teens need to sign up for an orientation session and fill out a volunteer application. See the events calendar to choose your library location and orientation date and to fill out the application. This is a commitment of 3-8 hours per week for 7-8 weeks (June 1 to July 15).
More information about the Summer Reading Challenge and summer library events will be posted as it becomes available. Keep an eye on our website!
