After spending countless hours volunteering for the library in our Summer Reading Challenge, teens transition from summer programs to new opportunities in the fall.
There are many ways for teens to get involved in the library during the upcoming months. Each library has its own space for teens to hang out, play games, or study when school lets out each day. Hamilton and Basha Libraries also offer free tutoring options – see our events calendar for dates and times.
Hamilton Library’s Teen Book Club meets on the first Wednesday of each month. Teens interested in taking charge of their financial health should check out Basha’s Junior Investors Program, offered on select Thursday afternoons in September and October. Crafters can join up at the Downtown Library to make a DIY Crystal Suncatcher or learn how to crotchet in the Yarn & Hook Crochet Club.
September also marks the beginning of the popular Chandler Contigo programs, with several programs especially for teens. Teens can show off their quinceañera dresses during Hamilton Library’s Quinceañera Fashion Show on Saturday, Sept. 14, 1:30-4:30 p.m. If crafts are more your thing, make a polymer clay craft to honor Hispanic Heritage Month at the Downtown Library on Thursday, Oct. 3, 1-2 p.m. Love chips and salsa? Then don’t miss the Basha Library’s Teen Salsa Taste Test on Thursday, Oct. 10, 2:30-3:30 p.m.
